Design, Fabrication and installation of Solar water heaters
Overview :
i. Developed and installed about local artisan fabricated mountain solar water and space heating systems.
ii. Systems estimated to save 40% fuel wood and women time in fuel collection with saving of 2.5 t/CO2 mitigation/household/system/annum.
iii. Artisan group (5 members) earned Rs. 15.00 Lakh with this activity in the last five years.
iv. Activity was famous among mountain women and helped in improving their health and lives and HP State Govt Recognised this with the Award of HP State Innovation Award for 2016-17.
v. Systems were validated by the accredited National Solar Energy Institute (NISE) for efficiency in 2020.
vi. Technology models were accepted by different developmental projects of the state like Himachal Pradesh State Council for Science Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE), Department of Agriculture, HP Forest Department, Sher-e-Kasmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K) Srinagar, J&K, NGOs, central Governments agencies like National Bank for Agriculture and Development (NABARD), National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) of Ministry of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), DST and international agencies like USAID, UNEP, GEF, for demonstration, skills and basic inputs to start these activities in their respective programme areas.
